Overview:

Students will reflect on real-world challenges they may face as professionals and develop cognitive and emotional tools to face these challenges. The project aims to bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and practical application of empathy and communication skills.

Driving Question:

In what ways can analyzing the struggles and conflicts faced by characters in literature help us empathize with people in our own lives?

Purpose of the Project:

Students will explore real-world relationship issues related to their future career paths by analyzing literature that reflects human relationships. They will develop emotional intelligence and communication skills by applying narrative techniques, poetry, prose writing, and orality to produce meaningful audiovisual pieces.

Objectives of the Project:

This project aims to strengthen students’ emotional intelligence, ethical reasoning, and communication skills, preparing them to navigate complex social situations in their future careers. By combining academic standards with real-world applications, students will produce impactful audiovisual pieces that raise awareness and inspire meaningful reflection within their school and broader community.

Standards
  • R7: Analyze multiple interpretations of a story, drama, or poem, evaluating how each version interprets the source text. (Includes Shakespeare and an American dramatist.)
  • W4: Produce clear and coherent writing appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.
  • S-L5: Utilize digital media to enhance understanding and add interest to presentations.
  • L5: Demonstrate understanding of figurative language, word relationships, and nuances in word meanings.
Roles and Process

  • Write a script (Stage 1), design a presentation format (Stage 2), and present their short film to community members (Stage 3).
