Purpose & Description
Understand that the shape and size of bird beaks depend on the food.
The nursery students in the knowledge lab enjoyed this experience whose objective was to understand that the shape and size of the beaks of birds depend on the food. The activity consisted of recognizing graphically the different beak shapes and what they ate according to these shapes, then each student had a pair of tweezers, a paper clip, and a spoon (different beak shapes) to try to eat different types of food (crackers, gummy worms, and peanuts) and in this way internalize the concept of how beak shapes are specific to the type of food.
